Faster Wet-Chem analysis of Silicon in Aluminum alloys

Faster Wet-Chem analysis of Silicon in Aluminum alloys

Faster Wet-Chem analysis of Silicon in Aluminum alloys

(OP)
I recently changed jobs to an Aluminum casting facility. We typically use OES for our material composition tests, but in certain situations we perform a wet-chemistry method of detection (typically for the major alloying elements).
We would like to do this for Silicon, due to the higher accuracy inherent in wet-chem. While we do have a procedure for it, the analysis can take around 8 hours. This is impractical for our purposes.

Is anyone aware of a wet-chemistry method of Si detection in Aluminum alloys that would take a significantly shorter amount of time?
