Welding API 5L X 60

(OP)
Good day all,

a little help is required in resolving a problem.

According to asme ix - Group numbers is a supplementary variable. To my understanding its a requirement for CVN.

However - our WPS Procedure A 106 - have P1 Group 1 which uses GTAW ER70S-6 and E 7018 H4R and no CVN was a used to qualify the procedure.

During my research, i realised that the same electrodes can be used to weld API 5L X 60 - P number 1 Group # 2.

My question is - do i need to do a new WPS to weld this API 5L X 60 pipe????

Thanks in advance

RE: Welding API 5L X 60

No, since both are the same P-No with no impact qualification.

RE: Welding API 5L X 60

No, unless impact testing of X60 is required by the design code.
