We are designing antenna poles which typically have the pole connected to the support with 2 U bolts; see picture. Plate and pole are both galvanized. How can we calculate shear capacity of the connection in vertical and horizontal axes.
Despite the widespread use of U bolts I can't find anything on line.

You start with basic analysis similar to other bolted joints, using tools like Guide to Design Criteria for Bolted and Riveted Joints by Kulak et al. and AISC 360 Specification for Structural Steel Buildings. If there are details not captured by these, then you look to more complex analyses with FEM software.
