Area of coverage from overhead shield wires in a substation
Area of coverage from overhead shield wires in a substation
(OP)
Typically, shield (static) wires are considered to provide a 30 degree cone of protection on either side of the wire. Can this value be increased for shield wires running side-by-side, at the same height above grade?

For a linear shield wire, this volume looks more like a triangular prism in the middle area.
Having two or more shield wires can give you overlapping coverages.
Just remember that you need to shield your equipment (and personnel) at the elevation of their tops, not just at grade.
