Boundary Conditions for milling

Boundary Conditions for milling

I am new to abaqus. I am doing pocketing analysis in milling using abaqus. I want to know how to assign rotation for the tool about its own axis and revolution of the tool about the billet centre. kindly help me in this regard.

RE: Boundary Conditions for milling

Usually a reference point is placed at the rotation center, that point is connected to the structure via coupling (or rigid body) and the point is rotated.

Hello Mustaine3, first of all thanks for your reply. Whatever you suggested that can be applied to rotating tool. by applying rigid body constraint the tool rotates. What about the center point about which the tool revolves. I want to rotate the tool about its own axis and about the centre of the billet. your valuable suggestion is requested.

Hello Mustaine3,i am attaching the input file and cae file. i want the object to rotate about rp as well as rp1. If possible correct it and send to me pls.

RE: Boundary Conditions for milling

I only see one RP in the model.
I assume you mean that you want to rotate about the RP of the rigid and also the center of the plate. You could create a connector between center and rigid rp that moves the rigid rp on a circle and rotate the rp itself with another boundary condition.

Mustaine3 thank for your suggestion. which connector can i assign to rotate in a circular path. I tried with beam connecter but it is not working. If possible correct the inp file send it.

RE: Boundary Conditions for milling

even i need the solution to a similar problem. currently i am providing 2 separate boundary condition one for tool other for work. tool rotates and work revolves about RP. But work is stressed without any contact. So it would be helpful if anybody help with connector type BC to help revolve and rotate the tool.
