I am looking how to make, through expressions, a Cycloidal Gear, external and/of internal.
I use NX7.5

thanks

RE: Cycloidal Gears

Since nobody replied, I thought of sharing my experience.

Years ago I designed a gear pump. For this I mathematically derived the formulae of addendum and dedendum of the Cycloidal Gear curve. Then I used Excel to generate XY coordinates for every 0.5° rotation of the combined gear curves.

I could import this table as a CSV file to the CAD software I then used and it generated a very smooth and accurate Cycloidal Gear curve. I had to give a slight offset clearance to simulate the rotation as it was sizes to size. Finally the gears were manufactured.

RE: Cycloidal Gears

I'm very interested in this. My next on-the-side project is a banjo tuner using cycloidal gearing. Should be a fun project and I'm looking for all the information I can get.
Thanks,
Mike

RE: Cycloidal Gears

Should not be that difficult. Do you have ready formulae for the gear tooth?
