Open read only mode by default when already opened in another CATIA

Open read only mode by default when already opened in another CATIA

(OP)
When I am correcting in one assembly, I have the habit of keeping the previous version of that assembly in another CATIA program for reference purpose. One day, I have mistakenly opened the same working file second time in the second Catia and found that it also editable mode. Normally , in Auto cad and solid works, we cannot open the file in editable mode two times simultaneously. i.e. when we have opened in one program we can not open the same file in editable mode in another program in the same PC. But, in catia, the same file opened in writable mode. I saved the second file by mistake. It save all read only children in read/write access mode. Due to this, I unable to check in to smart team. Then, I deleted all children and freshly downloaded from smart team and checked in.
Kindly suggest any control is available in Catia through OPTIONS SETTING that the file should be open in read only mode when already opened.

Hi ferdo & tikito,
My main intention of keeping reference is to view constraint details while replacing new components. If we use XML, we cannot see the constraint details. Kindly provide any other solution.

Well, as far as I know, when you are using ENOVIA or SMARTTEAM, you don't need constraints, the position matrix is kept by the PDM system. You have to understand that CATIA with a PDM system is working a little bit different and connection with database should be done only thru one CATIA instance.

I'm not aware about a solution in the way you are looking for.

you can send an assy to a temp folder and use it as reference.

Hi Jenial,
Thanks for your idea. It is working fine. From the net, I found that if we send the documents by send to directory option, UUID will be same. So, I have renamed the read/write parts by putting prefix BACKUP and for read only parts with the same name. Now, I able to open the previous revision models and use them for reference purpose. In the mean time, if I check out any children of that assembly, I send the copy of that drawing to the same particular TEMP folder and then do the save management that drawing to other name with prefix BACKUP. Now, I have started to use your idea and come back if I face any difficulty.
