Waterproof connector 30A

Waterproof connector 30A

Waterproof connector 30A

(OP)
I just bought this connector

***p://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191278895319?tfrom=191405132575...

It says 30A rated but on arrival I found the contacts to be only 1mm diameter which I really doubt they can handle 30A.

So can someone point me to a similar connector (panel mount socket and cable mount screw on plug) that really can handle 30A at 12V load?

RE: Waterproof connector 30A

1mm diameter sounds like a size 20 pin -which is only rated for 3-5A.

For 30A, you probably want a size 8 pin - which is going to push you towards some less common/more pricy options.

These are quite nice, but demand a very different sort of budget.

RE: Waterproof connector 30A

Looks like a connector made by Conxall, or maybe a copy.

Not really an aviation connector, more of a low-end commercial or consumer-grade marine/pleasure boating electronics connector.

RE: Waterproof connector 30A

How 'waterproof' are you looking for? Drip-proof is very different to submersible or pressure-tight.

The connector you linked to looks similar to Bulgin's 'Buccaneer' series. Generally quite good for the price, but you get what you pay for to some extent. http://www.bulgin.co.uk/Products/Buccaneer/Buccane...

I need these for a fishing boat for powering an electric winch. It is not going to be submerged but should be IP67 at least.

The Bucaneer 7000 series looks good and not too expensive. Thanks for the link.

RE: Waterproof connector 30A

I am a fan of Deutsch connectors, as they have provided very good service in a number of applications I work with, and lately seems a number come up on ebay come up from different sources,

This is overkill for your particular application, but there are lots of options with this line of products.

Hope that helps, MikeL
