Problem with Connectors
Problem with Connectors
(OP)
Hello everyone, I’m trying to apply connectors to represent the contact (mortar) between a beam and a wall (both represented in shell element). I need to apply two behaviors, axial and tangential, as presented in the image (1). I’m using a basic connector (slide-plane + align), that presents available CORM: U2, U3. When I enter with a negative value to the force F that means a compression to the connector right?
Image (1)

The greatest problem is due to the tangential behavior, I’m getting a undesired displacement between the two shell elements (Image 2). How can I solve this problem?
Image (2)

I’m reading about represent the contact as springs with determined stiffness, as presented in the image (3). How can I do it on abaqus? Can I use the connectors?
Image (3)

If anyone could give some tips, I would be glad.

RE: Problem with Connectors
Visualize your connectors, check their orientations in the deformed configuration and their forces and displacements.

Do you guys have any tips to my problem?

"Fastner domain data is missing"
When does this message appear? Have you requested Connector History Output in Preprocessing?

What does that mean? No friction?
RE: Problem with Connectors
I need that the axial behavior of my connector presents stiffness only to compression. When solicited by traction forces I want that the connector present a null stiffness. I try to represent this behavior with the first graphic. When solicited by an axial force of compression (negative), the connector present a small displacement, due to the stiffness of the connector. When the connector solicited by an axial force of traction (positive), the connecter present zero stiffness, so occur a big displacement. Do you think that this consideration is right?
