Heat of dilution
Heat of dilution
(OP)
I have a semi-simple question. I need the heat of dilution for H2SO4 from 80 to 25%. I have a table here:
http://www.generalchemical.com/assets/pdf/Sulfuric...
To get the heat generated, I need to integrate the function for the curve from 80 to 25 and then multiply the number of lbs of H2SO 4 I have, correct?

RE: Heat of dilution
What you need to do is read the value from the chart at 25% (312) and then subtract the value at 80% (150) So then the heat released per lb H2SO4 is 162 BTU/Lb H2SO4.
Don't forget that your starting material is only 80% H2SO4 when you multiply it out to try to get the total BTU's released.
