Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector on Fire Alarm System monitored circuit

Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector on Fire Alarm System monitored circuit

Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector on Fire Alarm System monitored circuit

(OP)
Hello,

I wanted to inquire about the handling of alarm/trouble signals for CO detector interconnected to the Fire Alarm Control Panel on its monitoring circuit. I understand that the alarm/trouble/supervisory dry contacts in the Fire Alarm Control Panel are connected to the dialing equipment that sends these signals to the Central Monitoring Station, where they are interpreted identifying appropriate zone and type of signal i.e. supervisory/alarm/trouble and then concerned personnel is contacted.

I wanted to inquire if the above process, is how standard signals are handled for a CO detector zone connected to a fire alarm system that is monitored? OR is the CO detector that is connected to a fire alarm control panel on its monitoring circuit handled differently?

Thank you.

RE: Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector on Fire Alarm System monitored circuit

I would think that it's similar. A home alarm panel incorporates fire and door/window sensors, and they're assigned to their own "zones" which have to be coordinated with the alarm company so that they know what when to call the fire department and when to call the police. Of course, a modern panel might be able to send out explicit information directly, given the data rate of telephone modems and the like.
