Teamcenter Workspace & Saving

Teamcenter Workspace & Saving

Teamcenter Workspace & Saving

(OP)
I'm extremely new to NX and Teamcenter coming from PTC/Creo and Windchill...

So in the world of PTC/Windchill I'm used to the idea of having a Workspace where I download models from the common storage area.
I can do work on those models check them out and check them back in. When I press save on a model those changes are saved in my workspace and no one can see them until I decide to check them back into the common file area within Windchill.

In today's world of work done on computers saving as you work is a must, so having the ability in Windchill to work within ones workspace (basically an airlock from the common area) is a blessing. People do not have see the half work I have completed just because I saved mid stream.

At my new place of work where they use NX and Teamcenter it appears you work directly on the models in the common file area. So every time you save it's updated and someone will see that change if they update their session or open the model fresh.

Is there a similar way to work in Teamcenter so that you can work, save, and then decide when to submit your "final" save to the common area.
Is that something they set globally because they want it to work that way or is it something an individual can change on their own session?

Thanks!
