Close/open command during OCB timing test results in NO data ( ZERO)

Close/open command during OCB timing test results in NO data ( ZERO)

(OP)
While performing routine timing tests on a 15kv 1200 amp OCB, bot the close command test data and the open command test data was well within trending perimeters. But when performing a close/open command, ( simulating closing into a fault), all data came back 000.000 on ALL poles, and on both close, live time, and open. ( we employ typically employ no delay during our Close/Open testing) We also adjusted the delay on the close/open test, but nothing changed.

We verified the test set worked properly on a identical OCB nearby in the substation, and the results came back normal ( ruling out a malfunctioning test set)

Any opinions?

We use an older version of the Vanguard CT-7000 and the OCB in question is a Kelman 7.2 RFA-2TV-D20

Bad aux relay?

RE: Close/open command during OCB timing test results in NO data ( ZERO)

Aux contact timing relative to main poles messed up due to a sticky mechanism, badly adjusted linkage, etc?

RE: Close/open command during OCB timing test results in NO data ( ZERO)

It was a bad aux relay. But was intermittent, so it made it difficult.
All linkage and mechanisms were tight and properly connected.

Thx for your insights.
