Risa 3D: Multiple models

Risa 3D: Multiple models

Risa 3D: Multiple models

Can I expect accurate results if I copy my model to a close distance in the model space, change a member size or load, and then run the solution for both? Or do I need to create an entirely separate model?

RE: Risa 3D: Multiple models

Is this a model from RISAFloor your taking to 3D or all done in 3D? If you have diaphragms defined and lateral loads you will need a separate model or have separate diaphragms. I can't recall if you can use multiple diaphragms in RISAFloor similar to RAM.

RE: Risa 3D: Multiple models

I typically save models as a different name to make changes like member size or wall thickness, etc. Then I can go back and view the changes I've made throughout the project.

Thanks. This project has all been done in 3D. I do have lateral loads.

RE: Risa 3D: Multiple models

Generally speaking you can have multiple models in one file and your results will be fine. The only caveat that jumps to mind is if you have diaphragms. Because diaphragms are tied to a specific elevation you would have to be careful that the diaphragm from one model doesn't rigidly connect you to the other one. But, that can be easily solved by just offsetting the models vertically.
