Hi team,

My material 4130 NACE with normalised + hardened + tempered condition. Wanted to weld with Inconel 625.

Can advise whether 4130 needs to do stress relief before welding & PWHT after welding?

RE: 4130 Material with Inconel 625 Inlay

To meet the hardness criteria in the 4130 base metal heat affected zone beneath the inlay, you should apply preheat (350 deg F) and perform a post weld heat treatment 50 deg F below the original tempering temperature.

What is an inlay?

"If you don't have time to do the job right the first time, when are you going to find time to repair it?"

What is an inlay?
Weld layer(s) that are deposited on the bore or inner diameter surface of a component, versus weld layers deposited on the outer surface. Both are technically weld overlays.

Does this means stress relief not required before weld?

suthagarqa;
I would not stress relieve before welding. You will need preheat.
