(OP)
Is there anything in NAVSEA tech pub 248 that states that my welder performance qualification test assembly can deviate from the joint configurations shown in Table XI?

RE: deviation from NAVSEA tech pub 248 Table XI

(OP)
I should clarify, I need to certify a welder to a procedure where a fillet weld is to be made on plate that is 0.010 to 0.250" thick. According to Table XI, I have to use Test No. 8 for fillet weld welder certification for all sizes, but in note 12 of Table X, "for thickness below 0.058", the minimum qualified thickness is the nominal thickness welded." This seems to contradict Table XI which states that all thickness are qualified by Test no. 8 (a 3/8"-thick fillet).

RE: deviation from NAVSEA tech pub 248 Table XI

Use table X for the thickness ranges qualified.
