TEMA TYPE VMU

TEMA TYPE VMU

What does the "V" stand for?

RE: TEMA TYPE VMU

roca, never heard of it, not in TEMA Fig N-1.2. Also "M" is a type of channel, not a shell designation. Not an HEI designation either.

Doesn't make sense.

Regards,

Mike

RE: TEMA TYPE VMU

Funny though but some extra smart client likes to indicate a vertical exchanger with prefix V. (Although still not answering your question but some light in probably right direction).

Thanks guys, attached is a picture of the beast.
It was made by Brown-Fintube in 2004 who specified “VMU” on their datasheet – maybe it’s their own in-house designation.
Brief Details of the exchanger:
Horizontal
Shellside = 24”NB, single pass.
Tubeside = Fixed tubesheets and U-tube bundle, single pass
Tubeside Inlet / outlet channels/headers were actually a part of the attached piping and were not supplied by the exchanger manufacturer.

RE: TEMA TYPE VMU

It's a double pipe heat exchanger but there is no TEMA designation for it.

Hi mechanical2014
Thanks for the reply
I would have called it a hairpin heat exchanger - of which there are two types:
1. Double pipe section with one tube (which can be finned or bare) within each shell/pipe
2. Multi-tube section with multiple smaller tubes (either finned or bare) within each shell/pipe.
This one is the second option.
I was only interested to see if anyone had seen the designations VMU used before.
Cheers
