Inverter Air conditioner technology..
(OP)
Hello everyone..
Basically i wanted to know the difference in design of Inverter AC tech & Normal AC.
Normal AC work with AC motor (compressor) with Run capacitor combination.
But Does inverter AC consist of AC motor or DC motor?
Do they need Run capacitor?
I so many doubts . SO provide ur expert advice . Thank you

My understanding of inverter heatpumps (like the Mitsubishi split systems) is they have a DC motor and the inverter controls the speed of the DC motor. thsoe DC motors are more efficient and you do't need a VFD. but when you buy it from Mitsu, Daikin etc. all is taken care off by manufacturer.
Those units also often are rated at 0.3-1 ton etc. indicating the turndown. AFAIK all VRF systems also use inverter motors.
Basically you get a variable speed motor without the need for VFD on an AC motor. Many smaller fans nowadays use DC motors (often referred to as ECM in case they are the more efficient rare earth magnet type). the inverter basically takes your AC and converts it to DC and varies current and voltage to vary speed.
