River Channel Improvements

River Channel Improvements

River Channel Improvements

(OP)
Hello,

I am a senior student working on a final project which involves bridge and channel improvements.
I have no idea how channel construction works so I have some questions:

How is the flow in the river maintained during construction?
What type of provisions should be made for storm flows during construction?
What are methods/equipment are used for widening and deepening the channel?
What can we do to make sure the bridge construction doesn't interfere with the channel construction?

The river has an estimated flood stage of 6.5 ft. We would want to make the channel bottom 3-5 ft deeper.
The total channel length for the project is 1744 ft and we will have 14,130 cubic yards of channel excavation.
I have attached the project plans, any help is appreciated.

Thank you.
