Flatten Sheet Metal Part NX10

Flatten Sheet Metal Part NX10

RE: Flatten Sheet Metal Part NX10

As for your first part, the one you wanted to 'flatten', all that you have to do is once in the Sheet Metal module, select the 'Convert' function and it will convert the model to a valid sheet metal model, as I've done in the attached model, which can then be flattened as well as have the Flat Pattern data created for manufacturing.

And here is the second part where I added one of the additional sets of flanges that you wanted using the 'Contour Flange' function and then using 'Break Corner' to round off the edges.

Hi John,

I am trying to reproduce your result. Does it matter which face I select on each operation?

Thank you!

John

RE: Flatten Sheet Metal Part NX10

Which part are we talking about?

Hi John,

On the second part did you have to add or change any curves?

Thanks

John

Hi John,

The first reply was of the 1st part, flatten. Does it matter which face you select?

Thanks

John

RE: Flatten Sheet Metal Part NX10

As for the first part, you can select any face but I usually select the one that I would have created first IF I had created the model using the Sheet Metal module in the first place.

As for the second model, I didn't use any of your curves. When you create a Countrou Flange all you need to define is a single curve representing the 'width' of the flange. When you select the edges to apply it to, the corners are notched automatically.

Please review the NX Help files for 'help' with these functions.

Hi John,

Thank you for your help!

I have been working with GTAC all afternoon trying to get the help files to work. I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks

John

I'll give you a hint, make sure that you've installed the 64-bit version of JAVA.
