Modeling corner fillets of box culvert and the support location in SAP2000

Modeling corner fillets of box culvert and the support location in SAP2000

(OP)
hi guys,

I used thin-shell and frame elements to model a box culvert underground, with 2 foundation beams on each side and was supported by 4 piles at the bottom corners under the beam. I have 2 questions as following:

1.I tried to use "area thickness overwrites" to model the fillets at the corners, and expect the fillets can help to reduce the numbers of rebar. However, the numbers of rebar increase after using this model. Does it make sense? Or I made any mistake when modeling?

2. The culvert as the attachment is supported by 2 beams at each sides. In order to model it, I use "area offset" to shift up the bottom slab, and use "frame insertion point (2)" to let the supports locate at the bottom of the beam. The model is a bit weird because the cross section of the culvert is smaller due to the offset of the bottom slab. May you give me any suggest to make the model complies the realistic condition.

Appreciate for your help!!!
