Good Afternoon ,
I am going to be building a 40' Apple Bin elevator. This elevator is going to have a heavy Renold Jeffrey chain with
a total of 12 shelves on this elevator. Each shelf will weigh about 200 lbs. each . On 5 of these shelves will be a 48" x 48" x
36" high bin full of apples that weighs about 1200 lbs. each. This elevator will have a motor and gearbox at the very top with sprockets
that will drive this chain. At the bottom will be idler sprockets. What would be the best way to determine the needed Horsepower and Torque
to raise this load , and what would be a wild guess what Horsepower and Torque would I need ? I am also going to need a brake on this Motor.
Thanks so much in advance,

You need the conveyor linear speed required.
After you have that figured out, then contact the Applications Engineering Department of your favorite gearmotor manufacturer such as SEW Eurodrive, Dodge, etc.

At that point they just need to test the real transforms starting with one model then onto the next, place that in their model, and they can figure the several stages.
