Anchor bolts/rods-available in 1930

Anchor bolts/rods-available in 1930

(OP)
Hi,

I am looking for information on the yield point(ksi) and the tensile strength(ksi) for the anchor rods available during the year 1930.
The existing drawings just call out 1-5/8" dia anchor rods.
Regards

RE: Anchor bolts/rods-available in 1930

It might be A307. Try searching for one of Ketchum's structural engineering books from the early 20th Century on google.

RE: Anchor bolts/rods-available in 1930

For a bridge I've worked on (1934), we found that they were some sort of mild steel. Used 24.5ksi allowable tension per the MBE.

Are you reviewing an old design in order to build a new one?
Or maybe wondering how hard you can push some old equipment?

I think 85 year old embedded anchor bolts are now a mere shadow of their former selves

Yes Tmoose,
I am reviewing old design where radial gate is connected to steel girder and the girder is further connected to concrete using 1-5/8" dia anchor rods(Total 4 in no.). These anchor rods are in direct tension. and no material is specified regarding these anchors.

Thanks others, for providing valuable info on the same.

Regards
