Al 6061-T6511 fitting FEM

Al 6061-T6511 fitting FEM

Al 6061-T6511 fitting FEM

(OP)
Aircraft interior. Bin support fitting. Modeled as solid with Tet-10's.

Von Mises stress exceeded Ftu on linear run.

Input stress strain curve and ran as static non-linear.

Non-linear output doesn't include Von Mises stresses. Output does include max & min principle, max shear, X-Y-Z stresses, and a bunch of strains.

Also includes solid Equivalent stress. Question is what is the solid equivalent stress? How is it calculated and is that documented anywhere within Nastran.

Thanks in advance,
StressguyMike

RE: Al 6061-T6511 fitting FEM

FE code ? looked in the user manual ? does output include three principal stresses ? (so calc your own von Mises).

going plastic for 9g is fine, show the fttgs good for in-service (ultimate) loads

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?
