Wind uplift Tributary Area on Cantilevers
Wind uplift Tributary Area on Cantilevers
(OP)
If you are designing a large roof overhang in which the framing has many long cantilevers, is it appropriate to take your tributary wind area (for C&C individual member design/deflection calcs) to consist of the entire cantilevered member? Or should the tributary area be based on the cantilevered length only? Thank you.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
