Error in defining normal to the element

Error in defining normal to the element

Error in defining normal to the element

(OP)
Hi Everyone,
During my analysis in Abaqus, I am getting a meshing problem as follows:
"Normal cannot be computed in 6 elements. The nodal coordinates may be incorrect or the element aspect ratio may exceed 1000 to 1. The elements have been identified in element set ErrElemNormal.

Error in defining normal to the element surface at a node in 6 elements. The elements have been identified in element set ErrElemShellNormal.

Analysis Input File Processor exited with an error."

Can someone help me?

I have tired of editing mesh.

Regards,
Habib

RE: Error in defining normal to the element

Open the odb and highlight that set to see what elements are problematic.

Maybe you get them right with a better element shape. Otherwise you can assign a normal with the keyword *Normal.

RE: Error in defining normal to the element

Hi Habib,
You can open odb by clicking the Results for the JOB you have created. Once you are in Visualization mode, Go to Options > Common. Go to the Normals Tab and click on Show Normals. Apply the changes. This way you will be able to see the normals. If the elements of all normals are not there on viewport, I guess it will say something about that. Moreover you can also highlight the problematic sets as pointed out by Mustaine3. Hope this helps. Thanks.
