Nx9 Ribbon

Nx9 Ribbon

(OP)
hello ,

After several months with the NX9 I have problems with the interface ribbon I know it is possible to switch to the old interface but I don't want to go back.
I am constantly in search of my icons when I finally find it is a new menu that appears, because I'm wrong thumbsdownand I click on the arrow which unwinds me a menu with lots of other features.

Maybe you have the same experience?
Can you help me by showing me your customize ribbon?wink

Thanks for your help!

RE: Nx9 Ribbon

Be sure to use the 'Command Finder' and when if what you find is not where you would like it to be, then do your customization.

RE: Nx9 Ribbon

That's the fundamental problem with the ribbon interface, you spend more time searching for functions that used to have quasi-permanent locations. Now they are hidden all over the place.

Not impressed.

To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?

RE: Nx9 Ribbon

I just started with my old tbr file I've been using and updating since V16.
I've added new tools and galleries to it, but its essentially the same tbr I've been using for 14-15 years.

JohnRBaker: I use the 'Command Finder' but I can not use it that I want to customize my toolbar

capnhook : thank you for your support thumbsup2, times are difficult blush with this new interface

robnewcomb : Can you tell me a little more?
Do you have one tab which includes all the functions in the menu modeling?

Thanks !

RE: Nx9 Ribbon

I gave up trying to use the out of the box tabs and ribbon configurations and just Customized all of my own within the NX session. I'm not a fan of having to make an extra click to switch between tabs, so I tried to cram as much as I could onto a single tab as possible. I also docked things I want in more than one application (View, Utility, Measurement tools, custom export tools) around the workspace.

RE: Nx9 Ribbon

In NX 10.0 we've added a 'Search' option when you open the Customize dialog so that you can find whatever NX function that want so that you can then add it where you want it.

RE: Nx9 Ribbon

Sorry to Hijack, but not sure my question is "new thread" worthy

One thing I haven't figured out, is how I get my "hybrid" tool bar into NX10.
By "hybrid" I mean my toolbar consists of my old .tbr file and things I've added to it by drag and drop.
If I open my .tbr file none of the customizations I've done via customize are there, but if I add commands to the .tbr file they show up fine in NX.
Editing the .tbr is the only way I know how to add macro/journal actions to my bar.

RE: Nx9 Ribbon

Ribbon customizations are not added to the .tbr files but rather to the 'user.mtx' file and/or your Role file(s).

Tim (Xwheelguy),
