Howto Convert Point load to Equivalent Distribution Load Or Area Load?
Howto Convert Point load to Equivalent Distribution Load Or Area Load?
(OP)
Dear Sir
I want to know about how to convert point load to area load distribution on slab.
Please to solve this post. and i want to reference book for approved.
Thank you

I agree with BA, but alternatively.... put those loads on about 800-900mm wide sections of slab, and calculate the moments and shears and slab capacities, or required thickness and bebar, under those conditions. Also, check punching shear under the point loads. Then you can calculate the uniform load which will give you the same slab stresses, moments, etc. Note, that you are kinda short on meaningful design info. for a full discussion of this problem. How are the slabs supported, thickness, reinforcing, load distribution area too the slab, under those large loads, etc.

Although dhengr's post bring up a question I've had. I typically use the strip method for checking moments, but when checking one way shear I use the full slab width, because I don't see the slab failing in one way shear for only a portion of it. Is this acceptable, a little risky, or downright wrong?
