My assumption is you cannot tie down a sketched curve to a projected curve, but I'd like to ask if you can.

Every time I try to do this the end point will not be on the projected curve nor can I choose the projected curve on the constraint menu as seen in the attachment. I may try curve on surface here in a second.

It appears that even two simple curves on different sketches cannot be constrained with 'point on a curve'.

RE: cannot constrain curve to projected curve

Is the sketch before or after your project curve in your history tree? Or are you using project curve within the sketch? Also check your selection filter to make sure it is set to work part not active sketch.

RE: cannot constrain curve to projected curve

Check to make sure that the Selection Scope is NOT set to 'Within Active Sketch Only'.

RE: cannot constrain curve to projected curve

It is because these are arcs 90 degrees to eachother. In The Old I-Deas world we were able to create an intersection point on the curve. I think NX can do this also. Try using intersection point then constrain the curve end to this point.

RE: cannot constrain curve to projected curve

I think you need to upload a more definite example of what it is that you say don't work.
in the part uploaded , there is no projected curve at all. If I project one of the arcs into the Sketch(3) it is possible to use the point on curve constraint.
If you do not project, you will not be able to pick arcs ( note the type of curve here) in perpendicular planes, Lines will work as long as they aren't appearing as points (*) in the active sketch.
* If you look along a line, it will appear as "point"., you can then use "coincident" but not "point on curve".

In the attached example i have projected the arc from sketch 0 into Sketch 2
( Double click the cyan line in sketch 2 )

Thanks fellas. thanks for that upload tomas. SDETERS was correct in that I needed to use intersection pt b/c they are 90 deg to each other. That got the got done in my case.
