Detail View with out a parent

Detail View with out a parent

So I have a 14 sheet drawing that I have to make some changes to. I have a detail view BA when I right click the view in the part nav to try to navigate to the parent that option is not available. I'm trying to figure out how this can be a detail view with out a parent to associate to. Any Ideas?

RE: Detail View with out a parent

My guess is that is a simple base view with the border manually edited to look like a detail view.
So rmc on the view -> boundary -> change to automatic rectangle

RE: Detail View with out a parent

I'd guess the detail view was made independent, then the parent view was deleted.

RE: Detail View with out a parent

Hi,

My guess is that the view has been made to Independent detail view.

Its not a base view with an edited border. That's what I thought at first but in the parts nav it is listed as a detail view.
If you deleted a parent view I thought it deleted all if its children with it?
How do you go about making a detail view independent I haven't seen this done yet.

Create a detail view then right click on it and choose "make independent". Now delete the parent view; you will find that the independent detail view remains (a dependent detail view will be deleted with the parent view).
