Modelling change in volume of element

Modelling change in volume of element

(OP)
Hi guys,
I want to model a bio degradable material whose volume changes with time.
It should somehow delete the elements on the top layer of the surface with change in time.
is it possible to create such a model in any software?if not how can i create my model right from scratch.Any advice is welcome.
Thank You.

RE: Modelling change in volume of element

You should probably search for element deactivation technique that is present in your software. It is based on the idea of multiplying the stifness of the element to be deactivated by near zero number, thus preventing this element from influencing the result. In ANSYS this function is executed via is Ekill command.
