Pig Trap Nozzle
Pig Trap Nozzle
(OP)
Hi All
We have Pig trap 24 x 18” and the balancing line nozzle is 4”.
Client asking for extruded branch for this nozzle, where as we have provided Pipe in pipe branch.
My question is if Reinforcement is required for this.

My guess is that re-inforcement will be required, but why not use a "weldolet" or "integrally reinforced fitting"
If this is the only line off the trap, 4" looks very small to me. I usually aim for 50% of the incoming line size, so 8" or 10" looks a bit more like it.

Also vendor has provided a calculation showing the allowable nozzle neck thickness and actual thickness. If this case is OK… do we still need to provide reinforcement?

Find the code, do the calculation.
however I can't see why you don't want to use an integrally reinforced branch fitting?
