Best Single Resource for Understanding Pumps

Best Single Resource for Understanding Pumps

(OP)
Evening gents,

I'm working at an EPC company after a few years in a refinery and there is no senior ME at the moment which leaves me to spec pumps, other equipment, and even perform some pipe stress engineering. This stuff does eventually through checks by other senior engineers at our other branches but I'm trying to develope myself technically as much as possible for this role. I have Peng's Pipe Stress book that I'm currently studying and I was hoping there was a Pump book that would be similar to this. Basically a comprehensive resource that would help me understand all major fundementals of how different type of pumps work and which applications they are best suited for. Also help in understanding performance curves backwards and forwards.

I was thinking of ordering the McNally Institute CD unless there was something better out there?

Thanks

Also have a look a the Hydraulic institute. A little pricey, but they have some free stuff..http://www.pumps.org/content_detail.aspx?id=7726

you won't go far wrong with the McGraw-Hill book though.

~also some pump vendors provide some good general advise, e.g. https://www.gouldspumps.com/Tools-and-Resources/Li...

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Thanks for the leads, gentlemen.

RE: Best Single Resource for Understanding Pumps

My recommendation is Gülich's book Centrifugal Pumps. See the link below.

It is a worthy successor to Igor Karassik's book and (in my opinion) far surpasses it in terms of technical depth.
