3D Beam and analytical shell contatct
3D Beam and analytical shell contatct
(OP)
Hi folks! I'm having big a issue about defining contact between a 3D beam and an analytical surface in ABAQUS standard. The problem is I should have to use node-to-surface contact intead suerface-to-surface. The analytical must be the master surface by definition
Problem is that The contact occurs between central beam line and the master surface. Is there another way of using analyticial surface with a beam in such a way. I really wanted to use it beacuse of low computational cost and ease of usage.
That is the mesage I receive from the monitor before analysis starts:
Surface to surface contact approach for contact pair (assembly_pipe-1_surf-1,assembly_pin-1_pin_surf) is not yet available for 3d beam or truss slave surface. Node to surface approach will be used instead.
The deformed shape is pictured here http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=e....
Thanks in advance.

RE: 3D Beam and analytical shell contatct
But for general contact you have to make you analytical rigid surface to a discrete rigid surface.
And be aware the the cross section used in contact is always circular, even if your actual cross section isn't circular.
