Create Surface On Wire Frame?

Create Surface On Wire Frame?

RE: Create Surface On Wire Frame?

Well the first thing that you're going to have to do is replace the 'curve' at the top, which is currently a 'polyline' (a series of small line segments), with a single spline or conic (it looks like a quadrant of an ellipse). In the attached model, I replaces that 'polyline' with a spline that I simply 'eyeballed' into place and then used it, along with the rest of the outer curves, to create an 'N-Sided' surface.

Note that if you were using NX 10.0, the new (and improved) 'Fill Surface' would actually produce a much better result.

Hi John,

I do have NX10 and NX9 installed, I am going for some training at Siemens Canada in June.

Could you give me a step by step or a video of how to do this in NX10?

I wish I could do 1/1000 of what you can!!!

Many thank yous!

John

RE: Create Surface On Wire Frame?

Attached is a video showing how I used the 'Fill Surface' function in NX 10.0 to create the desired surface. Note that 'Fill Surface' was introduced in NX 9.0 but it required that at least one 'side' of the profile had to be an edge of a face. In NX 10.0, this was enhanced so as to no longer have that requirement, which allowed it to better replace the now all but obsolete 'N-Sided' surface, that I used in the example I posted using NX 8.5.
