Solubility of CO2 in TEG

Solubility of CO2 in TEG

I need values for the solubility of CO2 in TEG. Is someone experienced in purification of CO2 streams before liquification?

RE: Solubility of CO2 in TEG

Try the GPSA handbook, or an article by F.Y. Jou, Fluid Phase Equilibrium, 36 (1982), p. 121

e.g. at 750 psia CO2 partial pressure:
at 75 F the solubility is ca. 95 Sm3 CO2 / std m3 TEG liquid (96.5%)
at 100 F this is ca. 70 Sm3/m3 TEG
at 120 F this is ca. 55 Sm3/m3 TEG

Solubility of CO2 in pure TEG is about 20% higher.
The relationship is not really linear, but close. You will probably overestimate CO2 solubility if you interpolate.

Joerd
