Dry Insulation pipe in pipe

Dry Insulation pipe in pipe

Dry Insulation pipe in pipe

(OP)
I find some reference about Dry Insulation , it tells that it relates to Pipe in pipe (PiP) insulation.

My question are

1.Where the dry insulation placed? Outer pipe, inner pipe or both?
2.What advantages of dry insulation compared with wet insulation?
3.Can dry insulation applied in Single pipe configuration?

Thank you for the response and answer.
Best Regards
Zachari

Note: I'm assure you it's not a homework/test question.

RE: Dry Insulation pipe in pipe

It would help to know the application, but

1) Insulation of the type you refer to (pip) is placed in the annulus between the inner and outer pipe.

2) Usually thinner for the same insulating effect. Sometimes it also needs a partial vacuum to be applied to the annulus to improve the insulation properties.

3) Yes, but needs a good later to stop waste getting in. Rockwool with cladding is a very common form of "dry" insulation, but buried pipe need another pipe to seal against the water ingress.

There are many types of insulation and the best for your application may be wet or foam types.
