Model of slab on FEM

Model of slab on FEM

Model of slab on FEM

(OP)
I've been modeling 3-d FEM by using shell element for slab and connected to beam, the result of shear and bending even load tranfer to beam( by results of shear )is quite difference from conventional method from ACI. They give me with less moment in beam compare to ACI method.
Could anyone advise me what am I missing or your experience.

Thanks

RE: Model of slab on FEM

One reason could be that the slab is spanning in both directions (two-way slab) and thus, the moment is being distributed to all four sides rather than just one-way to the beams.

Hope this helps,

Mike
