beam plate model in Staad-Pro

(OP)
I have to model a platform weighing structure in staad using two plates and channels in between. I have to use 8 node solid elements for both the plates (top and bottom). And I am facing problem in transferring load from top plate to bottom plate through channels. Also the channels has to be connected to plate at their ends to cover them.

Do I have to use the nodes of top plate for channels and offset them or enter the nodes separately for the channels and with master slave command transfer the load. And how will I connect the bottom plate with the channels?

RE: beam plate model in Staad-Pro

I'm not to sure how to model this situation but I would use plate elements and not solids. Solid elements do not transfer moments; only compression, tension and shear.
