Doubt abut stress results

Doubt abut stress results

Doubt abut stress results

(OP)
Hello,

Please, I am trainning with Abaqus 6.10 and and have two doubts ( maybe basics ), first I am not finding where I can choose if the stresses are presented by "average" or " not average" for each element . I noticed that the default is " not average", but for example, using a quadratic solid element I would like to know the average stress instead the stress in each node, by other hand, I am not sure why in the default " not average" the Von Mises stress is presented only with one value.

The second doubt, is not exactly about Abaqus but general, is about the variation of the stress level among element conecteds ( I noticed sometimes leaps / high differences between an element and your neighbour conected ). It would be due to element sizes, shape of element, etc., to increase the number or type of elements would be a way to reduce this problem ?

The last, what is "averaging 50%, 75%, 100% ?

Thanks

Thanks zwtipp05,

OK, so the averaging is a procedure to show the results smoothly among elements conecteds, due to different stress levels.

Please, I also would like other information, I noticed in some linear triangles or tetrahedron different colors ( level of stress ) inside the element but if I am note making some mistake these elements has a constant stress, why is it happen ?

And, with linear elements, I get one answer to SVM ( probably in centroid ) and to quadratic elements I can see , for example, a 10-node tetra, four results to SVM and to a 20-node brick, eight results to SVM, Why I do not get an average SVM result in quadratic elements or are there other interpretation for these results ?

Thanks

RE: Doubt abut stress results

Have you read that mentioned section in the manual?
It also explains when results are not averaged by default. That answers some of your questions. You'll also find information how you can change these settings.
