Utilizing a Tool Library Through Your Network

(OP)
thread561-255658: trying to create a tool library for multiple users...

So I saw this thread while trying to figure out how to get myself and two other engineers I work with to access our standardized library over the network.
This is a step by step work instruction on how to establish a tool library on your network that you can send your tools to and retrieve them from:

Step 1: Copy the folder called "library" from your local directory (for me: C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 9.0\MACH\resource\) to a location on the network (for me: \\AAISVRSBS001\Shared Folders\Engineering\_NX)
Step 2: Go to Start->Computer and click system towards the top of the window (or right click "computer" on the left side of the window and click "properties").
Step 3: Click "advanced system settings" on the left side
Step 4: Click "Environment Variables"
Step 5: There are two windows with "new" "edit" "delete" buttons underneath them. Under the bottom one, labelled "system variables", hit the "new" button.
Step 6: For variable name, type: UGII_CAM_LIBRARY_DIR
Step 7: For variable value, enter the location on the network (in my case, it was \\AAISVRSBS001\Shared Folders\Engineering\_NX\library\ )

Note: When you enter the variable name, make sure to include ...\library\ at the end, specifically, include the \ or it won't work.

I'm super new to NX, so please let me know if this doesnt work or is missing some essential step that you know of and I'll fix it. Thanks everyone, hope this is helpful!

RE: Utilizing a Tool Library Through Your Network

Check your configuration files, there may be a setting in them for UGII_CAM_LIBRARY_DIR so you don't have to create the environment variables.
I think there is also a setting for a customer CAM Library, but it has been a few years since I played with a NX configuration.
