what is the difference between regular port and full port for a ball valve?

what is the difference between regular port and full port for a ball valve?

Some times I find full port or bore some times I found it written regular so my Q is what is the difference and the selection of the bore type depends on what other than pigging.

RE: what is the difference between regular port and full port for a ball valve?

Isolation valves for BDV and PSV - they need to be full bore as well.
Applications where pressure drop is critical (e.g. vacuum services) need full bore valves.
Dirty services where reduced bore may lead to plugging, will also require full (or close to full) bore valves.

I think you are tqlking about full bore and reduced bore but there is although a regular bore type As I remember?

Regular bore, reduced bore, and normal bore are all just names for the same thing. We have full bore valves where the passageway in the valve body is the same size as the pipeline, and the other bores where it is (typically) one standard pipe size smaller.

Reduced bore is the same as regular bore. It is regular in the sense that it is used normally in most applications for some reasons like lighter in weight and inexpensive compared to full bore.

You use full bore if less pressure drop in your pipeline is required, since reduced bore means added restriction, more pressure drop.
