PMI - Siemens needs to Get Serious and Lead
PMI - Siemens needs to Get Serious and Lead
(OP)
General question for the Siemens folks. Having looked at the current functionality in NX9, I'd say there is much improvement needed. At what point will the Siemens leadership team begin spending money on the module versus spamming the world with half truths of benefits?
This is the future and if Siemens expects to sustain the product they'd better start dumping investment into the module. The current state of PMI in NX is laughable when compared to Catia V6.
When will working basic functionality be made available? At present users must apply workarounds for much of what is basic drafting.
Lets start with the issue of PMI consumption. For a business to invest in PMI and abandon current reusable drawings there must be an upside. Clarity and decreased ambiguity is a benefit, but consumption is the prize. Why must users use trial and error to achieve this? Why must curves often be employed in a face based tool? Why is the section functionality so limited and flakey (everyone is not building blocks and cylinders)? Why are basic visual cues like centerlines so limited? Why is the GD&T so dumb that flatness can be applied to a sphere?
Take a look around at the competition, and let's get the PMI module improved!
