NX 9.0 curve on surface

NX 9.0 curve on surface

NX 9.0 curve on surface

(OP)
Hello everyone,
I want you to imagine a situation (please forgive me for posting without pictures):
- I have a bent sheet, created by extruding a two-dimensional spline.
- On this sheet, I have created another spline by using "curve on surface" command.
- I also have straight vectors (lines) projected on this same bent sheet.
- QUESTION: I want to make my curve on surface TANGENT to these vectors I have projected on the same surface. But I do not see any options for tangency or any constraints in the dialog box for that matter. Can it be done? Or can someone else suggest another way of accomplishing this? Thank you for your time :)

The part is too large and complex. It will most likely just confuse anyone who will open it in stead of make them understand the problem.
I will try and snap a screenie that gives the most visual insight.

RE: NX 9.0 curve on surface

Could you use a "bridge curve" with a constraint face instead?

RE: NX 9.0 curve on surface

I will give it a try. But is it possible to dynamically change the geometry of the bridge curve?

RE: NX 9.0 curve on surface

While it is not possible to add points to a bridge curve like a spline there are options for modifying the tangent magnitude, the depth skew or use a template curve. I've never used the template curve option and rarely used depth skew as tangent magnitude covers virtually all my requirements. Maybe someone else can give a more complete description.

RE: NX 9.0 curve on surface

Yes, there are Drag Handles for the start and end points as well as Sliders to dynamically alter the fullness or the deoth and skew of the curve as it lies on the surface of your model.

Thanks for the help everyone. It works just fine :)
