Is there any code reference with respect to the different type of markings (done to ensure traceability, identification and certification)?
In case of tubes we are engraving the details (due to the low wall thickness)
while in the case of thick walled pipes we are using stamps,

An answer with special emphasis on the limiting criteria (transition from engraving to stamping)is greatly appreciated.
In case there is a limiting criteria, then what is it based on (OD or thickness?)

RE: Limiting criteria for low stress stamping on pressure part components

No, there is no real limiting criteria it is based on the stamp holder's quality manual.

Check your material specifications and construction code. Section VIII UHT mandates low stress stamps.
