moment average or maximum

moment average or maximum

moment average or maximum

(OP)
My question is about the interpre‧ation of moment or reinforcement area as resulllt of analysis and design. As it is known shell elements are modeled for slabs and walls and uniform loads are assigned to them.for calculation of reinforcement average moments shall be used or maximum moment.for example in meshes where wall and roof or wall and foundation are intersected there is so called moment concentration which dissipates when going away from middlespan.as it is obvious deflection increses near middle span.so threre is variation of moment between two columans.shall maximum or avarage used?

RE: moment average or maximum

If you are talking about singularity points then you should average the results, amount of elements between which you should perform averaging varies depending on th FE size, and type of singularity, not a bad rule for first iteration for wall slab iteration is to disregard slab element that lie inside the wall dimensions. And perform ever egging on the next element.
Mid span is usually singularity free zone, if your mesh is sufficient it will show ~ correct displacements and shell element forces.
