Transformer half crest time

Transformer half crest time

Transformer half crest time

(OP)
Dears,
during reading power transformer (0.71/33) kv data sheet, I found term "half crest time" which equals to 0.8 s,
the question is: what is that time and why is important?
thanks and kind regards.

RE: Transformer half crest time

I had the same question when I was reviewing datasheets.

I made an enquiry with the transformer supplier and I have attached the datasheet I received from the supplier. It seems that it is the time taken by the current to fall down to 50% of the peak inrush value and it could be used for adopting protection settings to avoid operating on inrush.
