Horizontal Flare And Burn Pit Design

Horizontal Flare And Burn Pit Design

Horizontal Flare And Burn Pit Design

(OP)
Dear All,

I am directed to look at the refurbishment of a existing horizontal flare stack with a burn pit for a 40,000 bpd of flow station. The flow station was commissioned recently after it was shutdown for some years. Currently, the vertical flare is used, but due to the increase in heat intensity generated by excessive gas flared due to more wells coming on stream with associated gases, we are advised to refurbished the horizontal flare system to come on stream to minimize the heat effect on the personnel and field instruments.

My task is to validate the capability of the horizontal flare system to handle the expected increment in gas to be flared during operation.

Please, I want to know the design criteria for burn pit and the horizontal flare stack design. What data do I need to get?

What calculations and steps do I need to follow?

Your input is highly appreciated.
