The above casing materials J55 and K55 have carbon equivalents (CE) that require precautions for welding; preheat and most likely post weld heat treatment, with carbon contents at or above 0.35% by mass. The API 5L is readily weldable with minimum precautions. The filler metal selection should match either of the two base materials (J55 or K55) in terms of tensile strength.

You need to qualify your own WPS for welding.

Use low hydrogen process with E/ER70XX filler metals.
