OWSJ Specification on Structural Plans

OWSJ Specification on Structural Plans

OWSJ Specification on Structural Plans

(OP)
I'm working on a building for which I have the 1983 structural plans. The roof plans don't seem to list any joist designation such as 24L05. Rather, the joists are designated with call-outs such as '24" CA 330/165 spaced 5'-6" o.c.'. I've never seen this type of call-out before. I'm thinking it may have to do with the deflection criteria, but I not certain.

Any help would be appreciated.

RE: OWSJ Specification on Structural Plans

The 330/165 is probably the total load (TL) / Live Load (LL) allowed per foot of joist length.

As for the CA, I have no idea...

RE: OWSJ Specification on Structural Plans

"CA" could just be a notice to supply the standard camber, whatever it may have been.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. I agree, that the numbers are most likely the total/live load. What's odd is that all other structural elements are identified on the plan (W8x21, etc...), but the OWSJ are not.

RE: OWSJ Specification on Structural Plans

Is it possible that CA are the initials of the joist supplier?
